Health insurance requirements for residence or long-stay visas in Spain

According to the Regulation of Organic Law 4/2000, applicants for residence permits or visas over 90 days must present a health insurance policy that meets the following conditions:

✅ Full coverage

The insurance must include all medical services and risks covered by the Spanish public healthcare system.

✅ No limitations

The policy cannot include copayments, waiting periods, or deductibles.

✅ Valid duration

The coverage must extend for the entire stay or the full period of residence in Spain.

✅ Proof of payment

Applicants must provide proof of payment for the full period of stay, or at least for the first year.
